The word gnocchi means “lump,” which is a decidedly unromantic word for such a lovely entree. These particular “lumps” were lovingly handmade using Ricotta cheese, and are just as good, if not better, than any you’d find in some Italian grandmother’s kitchen. Lumps of lusciousness, we’d say.
